Our trip to the floe / ice-edge is in itself an Arctic adventure. The floe-edge is the name given to the area where frozen ocean meets open ocean. Travelling by snowmobile and komatik ( Inuit sled ) we will travel in areas known to contain some of the highest concentrations of wildlife in the Arctic. This trip is designed to showcase, under the perpetual daylight, the grandeur and beauty of the land. Towering mountains, glaciers and icebergs will surround you as we journey through the Arctic wilderness. We'll visit ancient Thule sites, graves of past Arctic adventurers and marvel at the resourcefulness and strength of the people that once lived year round in such a challenging enviroment. Travelling out towards Baffin Bay we will keep watch for Polar Bears, Narwhal, Beluga, Walrus and the elusive Bowhead whale. A trip to the Pond Inlet floe-edge is without doubt a memorable and fascinating experience.
 The Pond Inlet region is ideal for the observation and photographing of one of the most unique and remarkable creatures in the world - the Narwhal. Migrating and gathering, sometimes in huge numbers, these whales spend the spring at the floe-edge and the summer in the fiords and inlets close to the community and to the west. Travelling by boat we can study the whales, sometimes at close quarters, to view their most remarkable feature - their long tusks! These tusks can grow up to 9 ft. in length. The narwhal though is only one of four Arctic whales. Beluga and Bowhead are here along with a fleeting summer visitor, the magnificent Orca. You'll have a chance to view these amazing and beautiful creatures from the boat and the land under the careful direction of our experienced guides. Join us as we travel in search of the "Unicorn of the Sea".
